Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium 2021-2022 priorities are part of a new 3 year strategy to ensure the best support is in place for maximising progress for the most vulnerable learners in addition to our core provision. As a school, we have responsibility to use this funding to ‘narrow the gap’ for this specific cohort of learners. We have utilised the DfE Nov 2021 strategy guidance and this was approved by our Governing Board.

The Pupil Premium is used to support and develop language and communication across the school and embed our integrated therapeutic approach. The majority of our pupils have severe learning difficulties and language and communication difficulties. This funding has an enormous impact on the curriculum and a positive impact on the communication skills of students across the school.

In 2017-18 schools will receive the following funding for each child registered as eligible.

  • £1,320 for pupils in reception year to year 6
  • £935 for pupils in year 7 to 11

There is an additional funding rate £2,300 for pupils who are eligible for free school meals and have left Local Authority care because of the following:

  • Adoption
  • A special guardianship order
  • A child arrangement order
  • A residence order

Pupils in Local Authority care also attract this level of funding. Funding for these pupils doesn’t go to their school but it goes to the Virtual School Head (VSH).

“The school’s culture to protect children and keep staff and pupils safe is well developed. Procedures to ensure pupils’ safety on educational outings and visits in the community are strong.”.
